Stop Human Trafficking
Northern Virginia Human Trafficking Initiative
(Formerly known as the Loudoun Human Trafficking Task Force)
In 2010, our congressional representative, Frank Wolf, asked the local faith community to be involved in the fight against human trafficking in Northern Virginia. A group of pastors, the Loudoun Pastors Consortium, heeded this call by forming our team to do just that. Our team, also a part of the Northern Virginia Human Trafficking Task Force, embraced the following purpose, based on our initial research of the efforts to fight human trafficking throughout the DC metro area.
Kay is a core team member of the Northern Virginia Human Trafficking Initiative, which is led by Elisa Johnston. Kay also plans various outreaches to those caught up in human trafficking on the international mission trips that she leads. We believe that Jesus came to set the captives free, and to bind the brokenhearted. We find it an honor to work with Jesus to bring about freedom, healing, and wholeness to all people.
Psalm 89:14 Righteousness and justice are the foundation of your throne; love and faithfulness go before you.
Isaiah 61:1-3 1 The Spirit of the Sovereign LORD is on me, because the LORD has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners, 2 to proclaim the year of the LORD's favor and the day of vengeance of our God, to comfort all who mourn, 3 and provide for those who grieve in Zion-- to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of gladness instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair. They will be called oaks of righteousness, a planting of the LORD for the display of his splendor.
